Privacy
Oído is a Spanish listening check. This page says what we keep, why, and how to have it removed.
When you take the check
You don’t need an account, and we don’t ask who you are. We keep:
- A cookie holding a random id, so your check survives a reload and you aren’t played the same clip twice. It lasts 400 days.
- Your check: the clips you heard, how many times you played each, the answers you chose, and the level it found.
- How you first arrived: the campaign tags on the link you followed, and the page that sent you, if your browser says.
- The steps you reach, such as starting the check or seeing a result, and when. We use these to count how many people get through each step.
When you continue with Google
Google tells us your email address and name. We keep them to save your result to your account and to email you about Oído, such as when lessons launch. We ask Google for nothing else, and we never see your Google password. Supabase, which runs sign-in for us, also keeps the basic profile Google sends, which can include a link to your profile picture.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to count visits and to see which links and ads bring people here. They set their own cookies, and Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of it. We send Google the steps above, such as that an account was created, but never your name and never your email address itself.
When you create an account, we also send Google a scrambled code made from your email address (a one-way SHA-256 hash) and a code standing in for your account. Google compares the scrambled code with the accounts it already knows, so it can tell whether you came here from one of our ads. Google’s use of this data is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
Who holds it
- Supabase: our database and sign-in, in the United States.
- Render: the servers that run this site, in the United States.
- Google: sign-in and analytics.
We don’t sell your data or share it with anyone else.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time on the account page. That removes your account from our sign-in provider and erases the email and name we hold. Your past checks stay as anonymous records, no longer linked to any account. To have those erased too, write to us.
Children
Oído is not for children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions, or a request to see or erase what we hold: oidositeadmin@gmail.com.
